Many of the young artists who have been assisted by the AOAC have gone on to stellar careers in Australia and overseas.International Bass Baritone – Daniel Sumegi – AOAC Award winner has this to say…

International Bass Baritone – Daniel Sumegi

“The AOAC provided me with truly invaluable financial assistance at the most important time in a developing career – at the very beginning. I won a very large award in Australia’s Bicentennial year, and it was the following year that I was able to move out into the big wide world because awards like this … enabled me to study properly at home in Australia before I undertook the first of so many overseas trips, properly funded for everything that was to come before me. That funding, of course, was never a guarantee of success, but it certainly ensured that everything needed to form a career could be obtained. Thank you AOAC!

The AOAC was formed almost 40 years ago by the late Sheila Prior and has raised and distributed over $2 million in Scholarships and Awards to a broad range of recipients including singers, pianists, repetiteurs, violinists, cellists, conductors, directors, vocal coaches, language coaches, makeup artists and hair stylists. Those assisted include Graham Abbott, Lisa Gasteen, Andrew Goodwin, Yvonne Kenny, Daniel Sumegi, Richard Tognetti, Anthony Warlow, and the Moffatt Oxenbould Young Artist Programme at Opera Australia, the list goes on.

We look forward to seeing you at our next event!
